What We Do
XSProject does more than simply purchase garbage from the trash pickers. We endeavour to make a larger difference in their lives by not only purchasing plastic at above average prices but by providing support in other areas of the community.
XSProject provides financial assistance help trash picker families send their children to school. As of July 2009, the Indonesian government is has implemented a policy to fund school fees for the children in our community. However, schooling can still be very expensive for trash picker families, so XSProject continues to support the children by purchasing their school uniforms, books and other essential items for their education. Education is of paramount importance if these children are to live a better life than their parents.
XSProject has also provided a water pump for the village and a toilet facility through sales and fundraising. Both these facilities improve the quality of life for the people that live there.
